YouTube’s Sweetest: Clara C

A singer-songwriter, her music isn’t the only thing that’s capable of charming people’s hearts.

If the name Clara C doesn’t ring a bell, you’re gonna regret not having known her earlier. But that’s okay, better late than never. Amidst the throngs of talented musicians that have been showcasing their music on YouTube, Clara C has been crowned to be one of the sweetest sensations to surface. With over 120,000 subscribers and 8 million views online, the Asian-American singer-songwriter was a closet musician most of her life until she hopped on the YouTube bandwagon in early 2009.

Despite the short period of time, the twenty-four year old managed to garner huge recognition around the world, especially after winning prestigious competitions such as Kollaboration 10, ISA 09: Los Angeles and the KAC Media Creative Juice Night. Clara’s music can be best described as a synergy of folk/pop/rock sound that when blended together creates a unique experience unlike others. It’s not difficult to fall in love with Clara and her music with her quirky charm, creative ideas, unlimited instrumental and vocal talent. In fact, it would be more of a puzzle if people didn’t.

Clara has been touring to promote her debut album The Art in My Heart and one of her stops was Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We caught her during her sound check for a quick quirky Q&A and we immediately felt like we wanted her as our best friend. And when we caught her show later on that night at Bentley Auditorium, we definitely wished the show was longer (and with an encore). We’re not kidding.
